Police Search for Rapist

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

It was recently reported in the OC Register that the Fullerton Police were searching for a man suspected of raping a woman in broad daylight at knifepoint inside her apartment in the afternoon, in Fullerton, California. The initial investigation indicated that the suspect forced his way into an apartment and raped the victim at knifepoint.

Police say the suspect used a ruse to get the victim to open the door before apparently forcing his way in. Police suspect that some of the victim’s property may have been taken during the incident but have not specified exactly what is missing. Police set up a perimeter around the apartment complex but were unable to locate the suspect.

In cases like this, there is always a real possibility that law enforcement will arrest “the wrong person” who in fact did not commit the rape, but might be arrested based upon a faulty identification or other circumstantial evidence. The penalty for rape is many years in prison. If a person is wrongfully arrested, it is critical that he immediately retain an experienced criminal defense law firm to assist him.
